A Genealogy With Purpose

God gave us family to advance His redemption plan here on earth.

Genesis 1:26-28

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” 27So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

The family was created to reflect who God is.

Genesis 3:8

When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the LORD God walking about in the garden…

Genealogies matter to God.

1 Chronicles 1:1-4

The descendants of Adam were Seth, Enosh, 2Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, 3Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, 4and Noah. The sons of Noah were Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Deuteronomy 4:9-10

Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, 10especially concerning the day you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me, ‘Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’

Commit that your family will be faithful to carry on God’s redemption plan.

1 Peter 5:8
