Revelation 3:14-22
A Church that Nauseates

Revelation 3:14-17

“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen—the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation: “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!  You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

Matthew 23:13-14

What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut  the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people’s faces. You won’t go in yourselves, and you  don’t let others enter either. “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you cross land and sea to make one convert, and then you turn that person into twice the child of hell you yourselves are!

Revelation 3:18-19

So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.

REPENT!...from what?...being halfhearted committed…to full blown repentance/commitment!

Revelation 3:20-22

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne. “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”

Take a ways:
Is your heart for God lukewarm or hot?

2 Timothy 3:2-5

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

*Wretched = troubled, afflicted in a spiritually terrible state.
*Miserable = to be pitied for his sorry state.
*Poor = destitute and in extreme poverty, beggar status.
*Blind = can’t see or understand his spiritual reality.
*Naked = is not a Christian or a Follower of Christ.

Christ is knocking at the door of your life. Let Him in.

Self-diagnosis: 3 areas of your life
*Time – do you spend more time on you, thinking about yourself than about God?
*Talents – do you use your abilities more for yourself than doing the work of God?
*Treasures – do you spend more time thinking about money than about ministry, what would your check book tell about you?

Psalms 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
