Family God’s Purpose

The family is the place God is honored. It’s where love for God and the worship of God is deeply rooted. The family is God’s mouth piece, hands and feet on earth to advance His word and work. A place were children are taught skills that are not natural to them. Skills to succeed and skills to survive. It’s the place where their distinct identity is molded and given. The place where our faith is best lived out.

The family is where the love for God and worship of God takes root.

Exodus 3:12

God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”

3 forms of worship:
*To bow down.
*To serve or to work.
*To bow my lifestyle before God.

Luke 4:8

Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

The family is the place the truth of God is passed forward.

Exodus 3:15

God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.

Deuteronomy 6:4-8

“Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. 5 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

*God must be first and foremost.
*Must be all in.
*God is what we talk about most.
The family is where skills are taught for life.

What a godly family teaches their kids:
*The importance of a good reputation.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16

For we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an odor that brings death, to the other a fragrance that brings life.

*The importance of good sense.

Matthew 7:24-27

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

*The importance of the fear God and the practice humility.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
