In these chapters, we read about a series of kings who ruled over Israel and Judah. While a few tried to follow God, most did evil in His sight. King Asa of Judah was one of the few who did what was right, removing idols and calling the people back to God. In contrast, the kings of Israel—like Nadab, Baasha, Elah, Zimri, and Omri—led the people into deeper sin, worshiping idols and turning away from God's commands. Their reigns were marked by violence, betrayal, and spiritual decay.
Dear God, thank You for showing us the importance of following You through the stories of the kings. Help us to be like King Asa, choosing to do what is right even when it’s hard. Keep our hearts focused on You and protect us from the things that lead us away from Your truth. May our family always honor You in our words and actions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
