Elijah called for a showdown on Mount Carmel between the one true God and the false god Baal. He told King Ahab to gather all the people of Israel and the 450 prophets of Baal. Elijah challenged them to prepare a sacrifice and call on their god to send fire. The prophets of Baal shouted, danced, and even cut themselves, but nothing happened. Elijah mocked them, saying maybe their god was asleep or busy. Despite all their efforts, Baal remained silent. This powerful moment showed that false gods have no power, and only the Lord is truly God.

Prayer

Dear God, thank You for showing us that You are the only true and living God. Help us to be bold like Elijah and to trust You even when others don’t believe. Keep us from following anything that takes our hearts away from You. May our family always worship You with faith and courage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
