After Elijah fled from Queen Jezebel, he felt alone and discouraged. He traveled to Mount Horeb, where he waited to hear from God. Elijah experienced a powerful wind, an earthquake, and a fire—but God was not in any of those. Then came a gentle whisper, and Elijah knew it was God. In that quiet moment, God reminded Elijah that he was not alone and gave him a new mission: to anoint Elisha as the prophet who would follow him. Elijah obeyed and found Elisha working in a field. He placed his cloak over him, symbolizing God’s call.
