David's Kindness to Jonathan's Son

After becoming king, David remembered his covenant with Jonathan, Saul's son. He inquired if any of Saul's descendants were still alive so that he could show them kindness for Jonathan's sake. He learned of Mephibosheth, Jonathan's son, who was lame. David brought Mephibosheth to his palace and restored to him all the land of Saul, and Mephibosheth ate at David's table as one of his own sons.

Dear Lord, thank you for the example of David's kindness and faithfulness. Help us to remember the importance of keeping our promises and showing compassion to others, especially those who may be overlooked or forgotten. May we be inspired by David's generosity to extend your grace to those around us. Amen.
