Elijah knew that God had a special plan for him—he would not die like other people. As he traveled with Elisha, Elijah tried to prepare him for what was coming. Along the way, other prophets also told Elisha that Elijah would be taken away. When the moment came, a chariot of fire and horses appeared, and Elijah was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind! Elisha saw it happen and picked up Elijah’s cloak, showing that he would now carry on Elijah’s work as God’s prophet.

This story reminds us that God’s plans are powerful and perfect, and He prepares others to continue His work.

Family Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for showing us Your power and love through the story of Elijah and Elisha. Help us to trust Your plans, even when we don’t understand them. Give us hearts that are ready to serve You, just like Elisha. Thank You for the people who teach us about You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
